Special Bulletin
Special Bulletin for Academy of Financial Divorce Specialists:
This is to advise you of an important positive development we wish to share with you.
The Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts (IDFA) had decided they will no longer offer Canadian designations and support their Canadian CDFA members as of December 31st, 2020.
We have negotiated the following to support those with prerequisite financial designations:
• If a CDFA member holds a prerequisite financial destination accepted by the Academy, they will be allowed to transfer their membership to be AFDS and become a CFDS
• If a CFDA member does not hold a prerequisite financial designation, they will have 30 months to get an accepted financial designation and then allowed to become a CFDS
• There will be no negative impact on CFDS members, and this will strengthen the designation for everyone in Canada
The process of the transfer will begin in January 2021.
The IDFA will continue to support their American CDFA members and maintain the designation in the United States only.
This will strengthen both of our organizations for the ultimate benefit of the public.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to Contact Us as always.

Hello to you all! Thanks to those of you who were speedy at renewing your membership.
It has been a busy fall and continues to be with all the educational sessions and conferences. We have been noticed at the IACP’s International conference that closed October 29th. There was definitely interest and questions on our role, using Perspectives’ projections, plus how we bring good value for the cost to clients. Presentations were done by me and Gail Belchoir and Jo-Anne Fiore presented with Brian Galbraith of Barrie.
We do hope you are continuing to find ways to manage successfully through these challenging COVID times.
Please contact us anytime with your questions or needs.
Sincerely, Linda, Melanie, Marina and John
