The program is for members to hone their practical skills and requires 50 hours to complete. It is for newly minted CFDS graduates, those who need to kick-start or refresh their practice, and for seasoned members who wish to take their skills to the next level.
Upon completion, you will receive the higher designation of:
Chartered Financial Divorce Specialist – Advanced Accredited (CFDS-AA).
Mentorship Program Objectives
- Raise the bar & profile for your CFDS profession
- Help further distinguish us from the American CDFA designation
- Increase the success rate for new or struggling CFDS professionals to gain practical skills through experience
- Encourage more CFDS professionals to actively work in this practice to fill the need of those separating or starting a new life together
- Deepens a current practitioner’s understanding of the work because training and coaching requires one to reinterpret it and adapt their delivery to facilitate another’s learning.

Module 1 – Shadow Analysis*
- Skill Building by Observation
- 10 hours
- Students view Mentors on live cases (in person or on zoom but not on screen, and with consent by clients & other professionals, if applicable) demonstrating:
- neutrality
- communication skills
- managing emotions
- tough moments/reality check with empathy
- financial acumen as the professional
- After meetings end, the Mentor debriefs with Student(s)
- Students view Mentors on live cases (in person or on zoom but not on screen, and with consent by clients & other professionals, if applicable) demonstrating:
*(exemption for accredited mediators or collaborative professionals with the CFDS designation, plus 3 letters of endorsement)
Module 2 – The Work of the Financial Professional
- Skill Building by Simulation
- 20 hours
- Participants are actively running a simulated meeting with other participants acting as the clients and the neutral while the Mentor watches & intervenes with guidance for teaching/coaching on:
- neutrality
- communication skills
- managing emotions
- tough moments/reality check with empathy
- financial acumen as the financial professional

*Module 1 Prerequisite (exemption for accredited mediators or collaborative professionals with the CFDS designation, plus 3 letters of endorsement)
Module 3 – Being the Financial Neutral
- Skill Building by Live Case Facilitation
- 20 hours (across one or several cases)
- The Student takes the lead with the Mentor monitoring and providing coaching/guidance/feedback on:
- neutrality
- communication skills
- managing emotions
- tough moments/reality check with empathy
- financial acumen as the financial professional
- Lifestyle Projection work and presentation to client(s), peer, or Mentor
- The Student takes the lead with the Mentor monitoring and providing coaching/guidance/feedback on:
** Module 1 (exemption for accredited mediators or collaborative professionals with the CFDS designation, plus 3 letters of endorsement) & Module 2 Prerequisites**

Pricing Details & Other Logistics
- Module 1 = $750 + HST (may be exempt as outlined)
- Module 2 = $1,600 + HST
- Module 3 = $1,800 + HST
